Scarborough Bay

Reputedly Britain’s original seaside resort, Scarborough sits on England's East Coast, in the county of North Yorkshire.

The area has a history which shows evidence pf Stone and Bronze age occupation, a Roman Signal Post, and viking raids in the 10th and 11th centuries.

Two bays with sandy beaches are split by a headland bearing a 12th-century Scarborough Castle. The South Bay, featured in the picture, was the site of the original medieval settlement and harbour, which form the old town, and remain the main tourist area. The North Bay has traditionally been the more peaceful end of the resort
