Reflections of Knaresborough
Knaresborough is a market and spa town in North Yorkshire, England, sitting on the River Nidd, 3 miles east of Harrogate.
Full of surprises, the town is a warren of medieval streets and stone staircases weaving their way up and down the hill. The town centre is perched on the cliffs above the River Nidd facing the imposing railway viaduct across the Nidd Gorge.
The viaduct, standing over 80ft high, was supposed to have opened in 1848, but the first construction collapsed into the river very near to completion, and so had to be rebuilt and was finally opened in 1851.
